The South Asian Hoteliers’ Conclave 2016 (SAHC 2016) is being organized by Hotel Association of India, The Apex Body of the Indian Hospitality Industry. It will be held from 9th to 10th August 2016 at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi
The South Asian region is visited by millions of foreign, regional and pilgrimage tourists annually. Tourist Circuits jointly feature India and neighboring South Asian Region Countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Bangladesh etc. As Countries in this region fall in an earthquake prone region, the large number of tourists who stay in hotels and resorts, located in distant hilly areas, seaside locations, wild life parks and forest reserves can become vulnerable to risks during occurrences like earthquakes, landslides, breaches, floods etc. The countries of the Region therefore need to deliberate upon and evolve a template for disaster relief, rescue and evacuation of tourists, if required, through mutual co-operation, aid and assistance. The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narender Modi ji’s leadership and initiative of providing instantaneous help to Nepal during the recent earthquake had galvanized othe countries in the Region to participate in the humanitarian relief measures required in Nepal.
It has also inspired Hotel Association of India, to decide to hold a South Asian Hoteliers’ Conclave, to be attended by about 200 senior leaders of hotel industries of South Asia Region including Owners, CEOs, and the Members of Hotel Associations of these countries. The proposed Hospitality Conclave is planned in furtherance of the priorities for mutual co-operation among the countries in the Region. The Conclave will enable and motivate the participants to take the co-operation between South Asian countries in the hospitality sector. to the next level
